Bears select mountainous Adam Shaheen at 45th overall
The Chicago Bears selected Ashland University tight end Adam Shaheen with the 45th overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft.
The 6'7", 278 pound Shaheen played college hoops at Pittsburgh-Johnstown in 2013 before walking onto D-II Ashland’s football team. Shaheen was used extensively as a pass blocker at Ashland, dominating his lower-level competition as a true two-way tight end. Shaheen does have concerning change-of-direction skills and is making a colossal jump in competition. Zach Miller could see a reduced role after finishing with a career-high 64 targets in 2016.
Shaheen racked up 1,755 yards and 26 touchdowns on 129 catches in his Ashland career.
