Sheldon Richardson

Jets still working phones to trade Sheldon Richardson

The New York Jets have been "making calls" regarding a trade involving defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

What It Means:

The Jets are making a last-ditch effort to move Richardson, a player they've been unsuccessfully shopping all offseason. Richardson is a one-time Pro Bowler and a former Rookie of the Year but teams have been hesitant to give up a pick for him as he enters his walk year, and with serious off-field issues over the last few seasons.

The Jets' defense ranked 10th-worst in opponent-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play last year. Richardson had a career-low two sacks in 2016.
