Packers sign Jahri Evans to bolster offensive line

The Green Bay Packers signed offensive guard Jahri Evans, formerly of the New Orleans Saints.

What It Means:

Evans turns 34 later this summer, but the Packers have a gaping hole at guard after losing T.J. Lang as a free agent. Don Barclay was penciled in as the tentative favorite to take over, but he's been brutal in starting chances in the past. Evans offers some short-term security, but he's definitely on his last legs. Green Bay would be wise to draft some help.

Evans started all 16 games last season for New Orleans. Among the 56 running backs to see at least 75 carries last season, Ty Montgomery finished in the top-10 with 0.08 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt; this should help.
