Mike Gillislee to replace LeGarrette Blount in New England's backfield

New England Patriots running back Mike Gillislee will "essentially fill LeGarrette Blount's role" in the offense, says Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston.

What It Means:

Considering Blount led the NFL in rushing touchdowns (18) and finished second in carries (299) last season, Gillislee's fantasy arrow is screaming upwards. Reiss added that he believes Dion Lewis will be fourth on the depth chart behind Gillislee, Rex Burkhead and James White, who he described as "locks" to make the Patriots roster.

Gillislee finished the 2016 season with 627 total yards and nine touchdowns while posting 0.30 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt -- ranking him first overall out of the 42 running backs with at least 100 carries.
