Patriots will trade Malcolm Butler to Saints this week or not at all
If the New England Patriots trade cornerback Malcolm Butler to the New Orleans Saints, "this is the week for it to happen," according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.
Reiss believes it will come down to whether the Saints are willing to trade the 32nd overall pick (which they received from the Patriots last month) or 42 and another pick. Per Reiss, the Patriots "don't have any qualms" in keeping Butler around at his $3.91 million salary. Butler was a second-team All-Pro selection in 2016.
Butler would upgrade a New Orleans secondary that was third-worst in the NFL last season in schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points allowed per play.
