Arizona wants David Johnson to see 30 touches per game

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he'd like to get running back David Johnson 30 touches per game this season.

What It Means:

Arians said Johnson is too young to be "overused" at 25 years old, so it's possible that he could see an increased workload in year three of his promising career. Johnson averaged 23.3 touches per game in 2016 and led the entire league with 2,113 total yards from scrimmage.

While supremely impressive on the fantasy gridiron, Johnson wasn't nearly as efficient in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) in 2016 as he was in his rookie year. His 0.00 Rushing NEP per attempt was 19th among the 42 backs to attempt at least 100 rushes this year. That said, he did finish with the third-highest Reception NEP per target among the 32 running backs to see 40 or more targets.
