Tony Romo

Tony Romo's options are either Texans or retirement

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo believes his options for 2017 are retiring or playing for the Houston Texans, says ESPN's Jeff Darlington.

What It Means:

Per Darlington, the Denver Broncos haven't "closed the door" on Romo, but they aren't actively pursuing him. It seemed like a foregone conclusion that Romo would wind up in Houston after the Texans traded Brock Osweiler to the Cleveland Browns, but it doesn't appear any progress has been made. Fox Sports and CBS have both offered Romo lucrative broadcasting positions, so it remains possible that he opts to call it a career in favor of a seat in the booth.

Romo tossed -0.04 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back on 127 drop backs in 2015, but generated 0.16 Passing NEP per drop back on 684 such plays in 2014, so it's tough to gauge expectations for what will be the veteran's age-37 season.
