Saints, Nick Fairley coming to terms on massive deal
The New Orleans Saints and free agent defensive tackle Nick Fairley are "closing in on a big-money contract," reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
What It Means:
Fairley's market value was thought to be around $10 million a year, but we'll see how a "big-money contract" manifests itself. He finished second on the Saints last season with 6.5 sacks while playing on a one-year deal.
The Saints were third-worst in the NFL last season in terms of Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points (NEP) allowed per play, but they fared better against the run, finishing 19th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play.
