Chiefs don't intend to use franchise tag on Dontari Poe
Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Dontari Poe isn't expected to receive the franchise tag, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
There was some belief that the Chiefs would tag Poe after making Eric Berry the NFL's highest-paid safety, but that apparently won't be the case. They would certainly like to keep one of the best nose tackles in the game, but there's not enough room in the books for everyone. Poe turns 27 in August and won't have any problem receiving offers on the open market.
The Chiefs defense ranked 10th-best in opponent-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play last season.
