Latavius Murray drawing plenty of intrigue from Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have been "showing a good deal of interest" in free agent running back Latavius Murray, according to Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline.

What It Means:

Murray would be a younger and more affordable option than Peterson, but not necessarily any more exciting. Despite running behind one of the best offensive line's in the NFL last season, the 27-year-old Murray averaged only 4.0 yards per carry last season -- the second in a row -- while losing work to a pair of middling rookies. The Vikings need help in the backfield, but their problem has more to do with the offensive line, than the talent in the backfield. Murray wouldn't necessarily provide the upgrade they're looking for.

Among the 42 running backs with at least 100 rushing attempts in 2016, Murray ranked 12th in Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt. As a team, the Raiders finished 15th in schedule-adjusted Rushing NEP per play, while the Vikings were dead-last.
