Tony Romo

Broncos most-likely destination for soon-to-be ex-Cowboy Tony Romo

The Denver Broncos are "clearly in the driver's seat" for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo "if he's willing to take a pay cut," reports Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

What It Means:

It's "the Broncos and then everyone else," according to Rapoport. Romo is currently due $14 million by the Cowboys next season, but he should be willing to take less once that deal is terminated. Expect the veteran quarterback to be released next Thursday at the start of the new league year.

Romo tossed -0.04 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back on 127 drop backs in 2015, but generated 0.16 Passing NEP per drop back on 684 such plays in 2014, so it's tough to gauge expectations for what will be his age-37 season. As a team, the Broncos were 24th in schedule-adjusted Passing NEP per play.
