Washington could still trade Kirk Cousins to 49ers
Washington franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins being traded to the San Francisco 49ers "remains in play" despite Cousins' exclusive-rights tag, says Mark Maske of the Washington Post.
What It Means:
Teams can't approach Cousins and his representatives regarding a trade, but they will be allowed to discuss things with Washington's front office. Kyle Shanahan was his offensive coordinator and currently needs an upgrade under center, so it only makes sense for the 49ers to pursue Cousins, especially after the quarterback said there's no one else he's interested in signing with long-term.
Cousins earned the sixth-most Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back among the 39 quarterbacks to drop back at least 100 times in 2016.
