Chiefs making effort to sign Eric Berry by deadline
The Kansas City Chiefs are making a "strong push" to re-sign impending free agent defensive back Eric Berry before Wednesday's franchise tag deadline, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs intend to make Berry the highest-paid safety in the NFL. Berry has been adamant about his intentions of sitting if he's assigned with the franchise tag, so hopefully the two sides can come to an agreement.
Berry matched his career-high with four interceptions this past season, helping the Chiefs finish fourth in the NFL in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play.
