Jets want to trade Sheldon Richardson before NFL Draft
The New York Jets will "almost certainly" try to trade defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson over the next couple weeks, reiterated ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini.
With Muhammad Wilkerson and Leonard Williams serving as the Jets' top two ends in their 3-4 scheme, Richardson is the odd man out. He remains one of the better pass rushers in the NFL, so the Jets will most likely ask for a first-round pick in return, but they may have to settle for a little less. Richardson turned 26 in November.
The Jets' defense ranked 10th-worst in opponent-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play last year.
