Rams interested in Kirk Cousins if Washington doesn't sign him long-term
The Los Angeles Rams could be in the market for Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins if things don't work out with second-year Jared Goff in 2017, MMQB's Albert Breer believes.
That's assuming Cousins receives the franchise tag for the second year in a row. The Redskins were once content to let the market determine Cousins' value but the landscape has changed a bit. Shanahan is already gunning for Cousins to join the San Francisco 49ers while Los Angeles could be a possibility next year if Goff falls flat in 2017. With Cousins attracting interest elsewhere, Washington would be wise to lock him into a long-term deal as soon as possible.
Cousins earned the sixth-most Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back among the 39 quarterbacks to drop back at least 100 times in 2016; Goff's -0.28 Passing NEP per drop back ranked last. Goff's rookie performance was the eighth-worst among more than 600 quarterback seasons with at least 200 drop backs since 2000.
