Adrian Peterson

Vikings' Adrian Peterson viewed as expensive, risky option

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is not worth $5 million on a one-year contract according to several NFL general managers, reports Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

What It Means:

It looks like Peterson is nearing the end of his tenure with Minnesota, but that doesn't mean he'll be greeted with open arms once he becomes a free agent. Per La Canfora, teams have "real concerns" about Peterson's durability and question whether he'd be willing to take on a backup role. Despite his Hall of Fame credentials, it seems like most GMs view the current version of Peterson as an injury-prone liability.

There were 88 running backs to notch at least 30 rushing attempts this year. Peterson earned -0.39 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt, by far the worst rate among that group.
