Matt Forte will remain with Jets for 2017
New York Jets running back Matt Forte is "staying" for 2017, ESPN reporter Rich Cimini said.
The 31-year-old is due $4 million next year and is coming off knee surgery, but his roster spot doesn't appear to be in jeopardy. With that said, there's a strong likelihood Forte's role will be scaled back in 2017 after getting outplayed by Bilal Powell down the stretch.
Among the 42 running backs to attempt at least 100 rushes, Forte's Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt came in 15th-lowest this year. Teammate Bilal Powell was third-best among the same players by this analytic.
