Vikings plan on completing 'tough analysis' of Adrian Peterson

Minnesota Vikings co-owner Mark Wilf said some "tough analysis" will be needed before the team decides whether to bring back running back Adrian Peterson next season.

What It Means:

"He’s one of the greatest Vikings of all time and certainly one of the greatest players of all time," said Wilf. "It’s a tough analysis we’re going to have to go through here." The St. Paul Pioneer Press' Chris Tomasson believes there's "no chance" Peterson will return at his current $18 million salary, and he's not alone in holding that feeling. The Vikings are basically left to either restructure the deal, or release the future Hall of Famer. Peterson is due a $6 million roster bonus on March 11, so expect a decision to be made by then.

There were 88 running backs to notch at least 30 rushing attempts this year. Peterson earned -0.39 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt, by far the worst rate among that group.
