Free agent Michael Vick knows his playing days are over

Free agent quarterback Michael Vick admitted that his playing days are over.

What It Means:

He held out hope to play in 2016, but it didn't happen. One of the more transcendent athletes of his era, Vick is now knocking on the door of his 37th birthday. In his prime, there simply weren't many -- maybe any -- players like him at the quarterback position, and Vick, in a way, spawned the game of today that features big-time athletes who can run and throw at quarterback. He revealed his desire to get into coaching in some capacity.

Vick's best season was his 2010 outburst with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he earned 0.21 Net Expected Points (NEP) per touch -- the 76th-best quarterback season since 2000. Vick was never a prolific passer, though, and his Passing NEP per drop back that year was just 0.14.
