Bengals want more out of Tyler Boyd in 2017
The Cincinnati Bengals want wide receiver Tyler Boyd to contribute more in 2017, head coach Marvin Lewis said.
Boyd had 54 catches for 603 yards and one touchdown as a rookie, but was held under two catches in 7 of his 16 games. Even with injuries to target hogs A.J. Green and Tyler Eifert, Boyd never had played than a complementary role. Veteran wideout Brandon LaFell's contract is expiring, so Boyd could emerge as the Bengals' second-best receiver, if they don't add anyone in free agency or the Draft.
68 wide receivers saw 75 targets or more in 2016. Among those 68, Boyd's Reception Net Expected Points per target came in 11th-lowest.
