Tony Romo

Trading Tony Romo is Cowboys' top offseason priority

The Dallas Cowboys' "number one priority this offseason" is trading quarterback Tony Romo, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

What It Means:

"We know he's not going to be on the Cowboys in 2017," Rapoport said confidently about Romo. He again said Romo would like to land with the Denver Broncos, but added Denver does not "seem inclined to make that move." With it all but decided Romo will be playing elsewhere next season, the only questions remaining are where he ends up and how he gets there.

It's unclear how good Romo is these days, so it remains to be seen what the Cowboys could get for their former star. In 2015, Romo tossed -0.04 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back on 127 drop backs, but generated 0.16 Passing NEP per drop back on 684 such plays in 2014.
