Jets' Matt Forte underwent knee surgery Friday
New York Jets running back Matt Forte underwent arthroscopic knee surgery for his torn meniscus last Friday.
It's a minor operation. It's unclear if Forte will also require shoulder surgery. Now 31, Forte averaged 3.72 yards per carry in his first season as a Jet, his lowest mark since 2009. He's signed for $4 million in 2017. The Jets could seek an adjustment, but Forte will likely remain in New York.
Among the 42 running backs to attempt at least 100 rushes, Forte's Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt came in 15th-lowest this year. Teammate Bilal Powell was third-best among the same players by this analytic.
