Washington wants Rob Kelley to see more offensive touches

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said he would like to get running back Rob Kelley to be "more involved" moving forward.

What It Means:

"We ideally would like to get that running game going a little bit more," Gruden said, "more touches for Robert because he’s been very good as far as running the football." Kelley averaged 4.5 yards per carry in Washington's Week 13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, but he saw only 14 attempts. He doesn't provide anything in the passing game, so negative game scripts are always going to be a risk, but expect the undrafted rookie to see more work against the Philadelphia Eagles this week.

Among the 32 running backs with at least 100 carries this season, Kelley ranks 10th in Rushing Net Expected Points per play.
