Panthers bench Cam Newton before game, start Derek Anderson
The Carolina Panthers have benched quarterback Cam Newton for the start of Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks, per Sharon Thorsland of Panthers Radio.
What It Means:
Newton was lined up to start, but something may have occurred pre-game that falls under "disciplinary reasons". Newton came in for the second series of the game after Derek Anderson promptly threw an interception on the first play from scrimmage.
On his one passing attempt, Anderson earned -5.30 Net Expected Points, per numberFire Live.
