Chiefs send Jamaal Charles (knee) to injured reserve

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (knees) was placed on injured reserve.

What It Means:

The Chiefs nor Dr. James Andrews have been able to determine the source of Charles' knee pain. The injured reserve stint means he'll be out for at least eight weeks, but it's unknown whether or not he'll be a candidate to return. Charles only has 83 carries since the end of the 2014 season. Spencer Ware will continue to carry the load while Charcandrick West serves as his second man in Kansas City's backfield.

Among the 39 running backs with at least 50 carries this season, Ware ranks 33rd in Rushing Net Expected Points per play.
