Broncos will keep rolling with one-two punch in backfield

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak plans on sticking with a timeshare in his backfield moving forward.

What It Means:

"I sure hope so," Kubiak said of keeping both backs involved. "Hopefully we can have that many touches in a course of a game, but I saw two guys competing. I saw fresh guys on the field and I think that was good for us, but we were also getting more room to run. Those things go hand-in-hand." Devontae Booker saw 35 snaps to C.J. Anderson's 29 on Monday night, while his 18 touches wound up being two more than his peers. Anderson narrowly out-gained him 107-87. "(I) think (Booker) ... is becoming more comfortable with what we’re doing. We’re more comfortable with (Booker) on the field in pass protection right now. We’re just growing as a group."

Anderson was the more efficient runner in Week 7, posting 4.98 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) to Booker's 1.54, per numberFire Live. For the season, however, Booker has Anderson beat on a per play basis, averaging 0.04 Rushing NEP per play to Anderson's -0.03.
