Gruden expresses confidence in tight end Jordan Reed

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said he can "feel a difference" with Jordan Reed and has more confidence in regards to his blocking.

What It Means:

Reed has always drawn praise for his pass-catching ability, but he has been criticized for his blocking deficiencies. He is currently pegged as the number-one tight end in Washington ahead of Niles Paul.

Reed ranked 26th, among all tight ends with at least 40 targets, in our Reception Net Expected Points metric (23.35). However, teammate Niles Paul ranked ahead of Reed at 20th in the same category. Expect a competition during training camp between the two tight ends for first-team reps. We project Reed to finish the year with 67 receptions, 575 receiving yards, and 4 touchdowns, as the 14th-ranked fantasy football tight end.
