Vikings' Adrian Peterson undergoes procedure for torn meniscus
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson underwent surgery to repair his torn meniscus Thursday morning.
What It Means:
The meniscus needed to be repaired, likely keeping Peterson on the shelf until at least the NFL playoffs. The Vikings refuted ESPN's report that the running back was also dealing with a torn LCL. Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata will handle the load with Peterson unavailable.
Peterson's -8.93 Rushing Net Expected Points are the second-worst among running backs to start the season.
