Emmanuel Sanders frustrated with early role in Broncos' offense

Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders said there is "some frustration" with his early-season role.

What It Means:

"I can sit up here and make it all about me and Demaryius [Thomas], how we're used to having 100-yard games, we're used to scoring touchdowns and we're used to doing this. But we're sitting here 2-0," Sanders said. "I'm waiting for that big game, Demaryius is waiting for that big game -- we know it’s going to come." The Broncos have more rushing attempts (60) than attempted passes this season (59). Sanders and Thomas will both have productive weeks, but the emphasis on the ground game doesn't bode well for their week-to-week consistency. The Broncos face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3.

Sanders has just 88 yards and zero touchdowns through two weeks. Among the 76 receivers with at least 10 targets through the first two games, Sanders finds himself all the way down at 72nd in Reception Net Expected Points per target. Thomas ranks 16th.
