Robert Griffin III sharp in training camp so far

Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III has been playing well in training camp, completing 16 of 18 passes during 11-on-11 drills on Friday and Saturday combined.

What It Means:

Given Griffin's rocky standing with head coach Jay Gruden, this is certainly a good sign, as his job is far from secure.

Last season, Griffin was significantly the worst quarterback option for Washington, according to our Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, which compares a player to expectation level. Griffin posted a Passing NEP of -36.84, meaning he lost more than 36 points of expected scoring for the team with his 247 drop backs. On 212 drop backs, Kirk Cousins netted a positive Passing NEP of 19.58. Colt McCoy was also on the right side of zero with a score of 11.49 on 145 drop backs.
