Elway wants balanced Broncos offense to help Manning

John Elway said in a recent interview he wants the Broncos' running game to be Peyton Manning's best friend.

What It Means:

The Broncos actually ranked just 19th in pass-to-run ratio last season, and with a plethora of running backs at their disposal, expect that to continue this year. A balanced offense provides a higher ceiling for third-year player C.J. Anderson.

The Broncos ranked in the top-10 in our schedule-adjusted Rushing Net Expected Points metric last season. Manning impressively ranked third, among quarterbacks with at least 200 drop backs, with a 0.27 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back. We project Manning still to finish as a top-five fantasy quarterback with 4,823 passing yards, 37 passing touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
