Cowboys insist Tony Romo is 'not injured'

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is "not injured," owner/general manager Jerry Jones insisted on the Cowboys' telecast during Thursday night's preseason game.

What It Means:

Jones claims that a "coaches' decision" was the reason Romo was pulled after just three snaps in Thursday's contest, describing his back as "tight or jammed." The Cowboys will likely take it extremely easy with their 36-year-old quarterback leading up to their season opener against the New York Giants on September 11.

Romo only played four games last season, and he struggled in that limited action. Among the 46 quarterbacks to record at least 100 dropbacks on the year, he ranked 40th in Passing Net Expected Points per dropback. Our models currently project him to throw for 3,699 yards, 32.01 touchdowns and 13.74 interceptions on 546 attempts this season.
