Bengals uncertain if Brandon LaFell will start
The Cincinnati Bengals are still uncertain who will start at receiver opposite A.J. Green, ESPN.com's Katherine Terrell suggests.
Brandon LaFell opened camp as the favorite for second receiver duties but Terrell believes his hand injury has made the situation "a little more muddled." Meanwhile, rookie Tyler Boyd has had a productive preseason while drawing praise from wide receivers coach James Urban. This could wind up a muddy situation that gets sorted out as the season goes on.
Our models continue to expect LaFell to play a bigger role than Boyd, projecting LaFell for 53 catches, to only 38 for Boyd. We expect Boyd to total 466 yards and 2.05 touchdowns on those touches, and LaFell for 663 yards and 3.32 touchdowns on his.
