Jamaal Charles seeing more work for Chiefs than expected

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (knee) has gotten more work than expected since coming off the active/PUP list on Tuesday, claims Matt Derrick of Chiefs Digest.

What It Means:

Charles was already involved in 9-on-7 drills at Thursday's practice, so the Chiefs don't appear to be easing their 29-year-old veteran back into things, as many believed they would. We still don't expect him to see any preseason work, but Charles should be in full health well before Week 1 arrives. He remains a premier running back in fantasy football, albeit with a bit more variability than in year's past.

Charles was his typical excellent self in 2015, prior to going down, ranking fourth in Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt among the 58 backs with at least 70 carries. Our algorithms project him as the second-best running back for fantasy purposes this year, with 254 carries for 1,185 rushing yards and 9.70 touchdowns, as well as 50 receptions for 399 yards and 1.38 scores.
