Josh Ferguson flashing at Colts camp

Indianapolis Colts undrafted free agent rookie running back Josh Ferguson has "flashed consistently" so far at training camp, the Indianapolis Star's Zak Keefer reports.

What It Means:

Durability concerns surely were the main reason Ferguson went undrafted; he missed 16 college games due to injury. But the Colts quickly snapped him up as a priority free agent and injected his youth into an aging backfield, led by the great-rushing, poor-receiving Frank Gore. If he can stay healthy and prove he can protect the quarterback, Ferguson could carve out a role right away.

Our algorithms currently project Robert Turbin as Gore's backup, pegging him for 60 carries for 231 rushing yards and 1.47 touchdowns, as well as 25 receptions for 171 yards in the air. Turbin faces a potential suspension, so this projection could easily become Ferguson's.
