Chargers' Steve Johnson (torn meniscus) will undergo surgery soon
San Diego Chargers wide receiver Stevie Johnson tore his meniscus during practice Sunday and will undergo surgery "soon," NFL Network's Michael Silver reports.
This is perhaps the best-case scenario for Johnson after he had to be carried off the field Sunday. Depending on the severity of the injury, Johnson could end up missing weeks instead of months. Still, it is extremely unlikely he will be ready for Week 1. This opens the door for Dontrelle Inman, Tyrell Williams and Javontee Herndon to earn valuable snaps.
Prior to this news, our models projected Johnson as the 72nd-best fantasy wide receiver, pegging him for 45 catches for 526 yards and 2.70 touchdowns in 2016. Inman is our 78th-best fantasy wideout, and the fourth Charger in our projections, with 28 receptions for 415 yards and 2.91 touchdowns.
