Julian Edelman

Patriots' Julian Edelman (foot) working out on side of training camp

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman’s work early in camp suggests he is close to returning, WEEI’s Ryan Hannable believes.

What It Means:

Edelman was spotted running routes off to the side on Thursday, and he was seen running hills on Friday. Hannable does not think Edelman would be participating in either activity if he was not close to getting back on the field. Danny Amendola (knee/ankle) was also seen working with Edelman, perhaps indicating he is close to a return as well.

A PPR machine, Edelman was the Patriots' most efficient receiver last season, posting 0.73 Reception Net Expected Points per target, which ranked 36th among the league's 86 receivers to see 50-plus targets. Our algorithms project him for 94 catches for 1,065 yards and 7.86 touchdowns as our 23rd-best wide receiver in fantasy. We project Amendola for 55 catches for 550 yards and 2.52 touchdowns.
