Raiders release Roy Helu
The Oakland Raiders released running back Roy Helu.
Last off-season, the Raiders signed Helu to a two-year, $4.1 million deal, but he couldn't stay healthy and needed surgery in February on both of his hips. Oakland will move forward with Latavius Murray as the starter, with DeAndre Washington serving as his backup.
Helu earned just 33 opportunities last year despite a barren depth chart, with a -0.05 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry mark on 17 attempts and 0.44 Reception NEP per target on 16 targets.
