Bills to turn Sammy Watkins loose in a week

The Buffalo Bills plan to turn wide receiver Sammy Watkins (foot surgery) "loose" in a week, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.

What It Means:

Watkins began camp on the active/PUP list, but this is simply precautionary. He claims that his foot is 100 percent and he should be good-to-go in roughly a week. This means Watkins will be back in plenty of time prior to Week 1. If his current average draft position remains where it is, he could be a steal, although his stock will likely rise since his health is no longer a concern.

Among the 48 wideouts to see at least 80 targets last season, Watkins ranked first in Reception Net Expected Points per target. He finished the year with 60 catches for 1,047 yards and 9 scores on 96 targets in 13 games. We currently project Watkins to rack up 1,081 yards and 9.20 touchdowns on 69 catches this season, which makes him our 14th best wide receiver.
