Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jets agree to one-year, $12 million deal

Free agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets have come to terms on a one-year, $12 million fully guaranteed deal, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

What It Means:

According to reports, the deal has been on the table for months and general manager Mike Maccagnan gave Fitzpatrick a 7 PM deadline to get something done today. Regardless, the wait is over and the 33-year-old veteran will be under center again for the Jets in 2016. The contract will include another $3 million if the Jets win the Super Bowl this season. Fitzpatrick posted career-highs last season under offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, throwing for 31 touchdowns with 244 passing yards per game, in addition to 10 wins.

Among the 46 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs last season, Fitzpatrick ranked 13th in Passing Net Expected Points per drop back.
