Keith Marshall

Keith Marshall not expected to cut into Washington's starting workload

Washington seventh-round rookie running back Keith Marshall is not a threat to starter Matt Jones' workload this season, according to ESPN reporter John Keim.

What It Means:

Marshall has all the size and speed tools a team could want from a starting runner, but he spent most of his college career injured and went back on the shelf this spring. In OTA's, he was actually running behind 2015 undrafted free agent Mack Brown at rookie camp. Marshall is talented enough to make up ground quickly in August, but he hasn't given any reason to buy into him.

Among backs with at least 100 rushing attempts, Jones ranked dead last in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry. However, among backs with at least 25 targets, he checked in first in Reception NEP per target. If he can maintain the efficiency in the passing game and get the volume of a lead back, Jones will be a valuable fantasy commodity in 2016. Marshall is just barely inside our top-100 fantasy running backs heading into training camp.
