Deion Jones ended offseason with Falcons' first-team
Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker Deion Jones finished the offseason program with the first-team defense, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter reports.
ESPN's Vaughn McClure recently predicted Paul Worrilow will open the season as the starting middle linebacker, but Jones will push him hard throughout training camp. Even if Jones does not win the starting job outright, his speed and coverage prowess makes him a near-lock to supplant Worrilow on passing downs.
With the 21st-ranked defense in the league last year, per our Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points (NEP) per play metric, the Falcons are looking for a big boost.
