Donald Brown needs strong camp to stick with Patriots

New England Patriots running back Donald Brown needs a strong training camp to stick on the roster, Patriots.com's Andy Hart believes.

What It Means:

Brown reportedly worked mostly with the passing backs during the offseason, meaning he will likely have to beat out 2014 fourth-rounder James White for a roster spot behind Dion Lewis. That seems unlikely after White came on strong down the stretch last season, but New England did guarantee almost a third of Brown's $965,000 contract. With LeGarrette Blount's (hip) health in question, it is possible both White and Brown stick around.

Brown picked up a -0.08 Rushing Net Expected Points per carry mark on 59 carries last year with the San Diego Chargers, which ranked 52nd among running backs with at least 50 carries in that span.
