Kansas City's Justin Houston (ACL, LCL) not expected to play Week 1
Kansas City Chiefs outside linebacker Justin Houston (ACL, LCL) will not be ready Week 1, reports ESPN Chiefs reporter Adam Teicher.
Houston was given a 6-12 month timetable after ACL and LCL surgery in February. He would have to hit the absolute minimum of that timeline to be ready for Week 1. It remains likely Houston begins the season on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, but the Chiefs are hopeful he will be able to play at some point in 2016.
Houston has 50.5 sacks in his last 54 games. Losing him would be a massive blow for the Chiefs. After recording 22 sacks in 2014, Houston had 7.5 sacks in 11 games this past year to go with two picks and a defensive touchdown. Kansas City finished the regular season ranked fifth in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play.
