Jets' Eric Decker skips OTAs

New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker is skipping OTAs "because he is upset the organization has yet to sign quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick," the New York Post reports.

What It Means:

The Jets' inability to re-sign their quarterback has not only left the depth chart all but barren, but it is alienating other players in the locker room. Decker is trying to "send a message," according to beat writer Brian Costello. Decker's absence from voluntary workouts is not violating any rules. Jets second-year general managers Mike Maccagnan arrived in New York flush with salary cap space following the frugal John Idzik area. At present, Gang Green has just $3.154 million available, the third lowest amount in the league.

The Jets ranked 17th in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) last season while Decker ranked seventh in Reception NEP per target at 0.80 among receivers with at least 100 targets in 2015.
