Jets' Devin Smith (ACL) may not be ready for Week 1
New York Jets wideout Devin Smith (ACL) "might be pushing it" to be ready for Week 1, said ESPN's Rich Cimini.
Thought to be among the best deep threats in last year's loaded receiver class, Smith was dreadful as a rookie before tearing his ACL in December. He will be less than nine months removed from the injury when the regular season opens, so it remains possible he begins the year on the physically unable to perform list.
Smith saw 28 targets last season and only hauled in nine passes for 115 yards and one score. New York lacks quality depth behind Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, so Smith figures to have a role when he gets healthy. The Jets did take a flier on wideout Charone Peake in the seventh round.
