Kellen Moore will be the Cowboys' backup quarterback in 2016

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Kellen Moore will serve as the backup quarterback this season, Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones confirmed Thursday.

What It Means:

Dallas drafted Dak Prescott in the fourth-round to be their backup of the future, but he may need some seasoning before he is ready to see game action. No matter who the backup is, Dallas' playoff hopes rest on the health of Tony Romo.

Last season, Moore got his first NFL action. He attempted 104 passes, completing 59 percent of them for 779 yards, four scores and six picks. Among signal callers with at least 100 drop backs last year, Moore checked in 22nd in Passing Net Expected Points per drop back.
