Sam Bradford

Eagles not expected to franchise Sam Bradford

The Philadelphia Eagles are not expected to use the franchise tag on quarterback Sam Bradford, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

What It Means:

The Eagles may have to do some salary cap gymnastics after signing tight end Zach Ertz, tight end Brent Celek, offensive lineman Lane Johnson and defensive end Vinny Curry to long-term extensions. The projected salary for quarterbacks under the franchise tag is $19.7 million, which is actually less than Bradford asked for when the two sides were negotiating during the season. Schefter said the Eagles still have "some interest" in bringing back Bradford.

Among the the 46 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs in 2015, Bradford ranked 23rd in Passing Net Expected Points per drop back with a clip of 0.08.
