Sony Michel improving as pass-catcher for Patriots

New England Patriots running back Sony Michel is making strides as a pass-catcher in training camp, writes The Athletic's Jeff Howe.

What It Means:

Michel is "beating man coverage" and "finding soft spots in zones" while looking "far more proficient" after struggling with route-running as a rookie. It's encouraging to see Michel developing his game, especially with third-round rookie Damien Harris looming. James White and Rex Burkhead still figure to take on most of the pass-catching work out of the Patriots' backfield.

numberFire's models believe Michel will rush for 1,155.8 yards and 9.01 touchdowns this season, with minimal contributions through the air. He's the RB20 in our preseason fantasy rankings.
