Tyrod Taylor reportedly joins Chargers as Philip Rivers' backup
The Los Angeles Chargers and quarterback Tyrod Taylor, formerly of the Cleveland Browns, agreed to terms on a 2-year contract, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Dolphins were reportedly interested in Taylor as a bridge-year option, but he will hop on as Philip Rivers' backup in Los Angeles. Taylor is also familiar with Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn, who coached him with the Buffalo Bills. Taylor turns 30 in August.
Taylor completed 42-of-85 passes (49.4 percent) for 473 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in four games last season for the Browns before Baker Mayfield took over. He added 125 yards and a score on the ground.
